I have been participating in Aerobics classes since I was 17. I was doing double classes  nearly every day and thought that it would be good to find a job doing what I enjoyed  most rather than a job that you have to force yourself to get out of bed for. It may have  taken years to get to where I am now but it has been worth the wait.

In the mean time I purchased my first town house in Ipswich and at that time I could not  afford gym membership and was also not realising that I was gaining weight. My  workmate at that time helped me get back on track by giving up the last 4 months of her  gym membership that she did not want anymore and gave it to me.

I was up to 84kg and with the help of my trainer Sharon Sanders reached my goal weight and overall lost 20kg in 8 months. It was tough but a change I had to make and was glad of it!

Sharon saw that I loved aerobics and knew that I had potential in becoming a group fitness and gym instructor. I approached the manager of my gym and with the help of Sharon my determination paid off and they gave me the chance to enrol in a traineeship into the Certificate III in Fitness with Onfit Training College – I was stoked!

I found the online course with Onfit Training College well formatted and just full of all the information which gave me the knowledge that I needed to complete my Cert III in Gym Instruction and Group Fitness. I found that it also helped that extra bit to succeed by talking to the teachers and being shown how to do things correctly in a few face to face tutorials. In my opinion I would recommend Onfit Training College to anyone that is looking to venture into the fitness industry and I now look forward to studying my Certificate IV in Fitness to become a qualified Personal Trainer very soon!

Last Friday was the last day of class for another excellent group of budding Personal Trainers. We celebrated with lots of fun activities, a big (and healthy!) lunch followed by a surprise birthday cake for Louise who’s birthday happened to fall on the last day of class so there was double reason to celebrate!

Good luck finishing off the last of your assessments class and we can’t wait to see you complete your qualifications and start work in the industry. We are proud of how far each and every one of you have come and know you will all be very successful and inspirational trainers!

Of course I couldn’t let this opportunity pass within thanking Hal for his kind words before he left…

“I believe you are the best institute in Australia, the teachers you have are amazing. The learning was energetic, fun and very motivational. You guys are the evolution and power of the fitness industry.”

This is a very valid question! I came across an article which appeared in the Guardian and really agree with everything Michael Pollan talks about which is also in his new book “Food Rules”. I can’t wait to pick up a copy.

“Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognise as food.”

I love this! Great advice in this world of processed and fast food…

We at Onfit Training College want nothing more than to see our students achieve their goals of completing their course and starting a successful and rewarding career in the fitness industry.

We realise that sometimes it is challenging to complete the course via distance education with all the distractions and commitments that every day life throws at you. Sometimes it is hard to find time to dedicate to your studies no matter how hard you try!

We would like to help our students find this time and offer any current distance students the chance to upgrade their online or correspondence course to classroom study. This will allow a dedicated time each week for a student to spend on their course and they will have all the benefits from classroom learning such as time with a teacher, the ability to ask questions and receive feedback, practical demonstrations, motivation to keep studying and best of all – no distractions!

We are offering 2 FREE upgrades to the Certificate III classes starting on Monday (29th March) at the Brisbane and Gold Coast campuses. Both full time and part time options are available to help fit around today’s busy schedules.

To win your chance to upgrade your course for FREE simply email admin@onfit.com.au and tell us why you think the classroom option will better help you complete your studies. The 2 best answers we receive will have their course enrolment upgraded for FREE and a place reserved for them in one of the classes starting on March 29th.

We look forward to hearing from you and remember that we are always here to help you with any questions you have or assistance you may need!

Yours in Health and Fitness,

The team at Onfit Training College

Another great day had by all on Sunday the 7th of March at the PadMasters workshop at PUMMA on the Gold Coast.

PadMasters is a great workshop for fitness professionals to gain a boxing and kickboxing accreditation to use in their training sessions with clients. A very useful tool to have as a Personal Trainer and clients love the variety a boxing and kickboxing cardio session provides in their fitness program.

Our OnFit students had a great day and really valued the opportunity to gain this accreditation as part of their Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness studies.

Of course you don’t have to be in the fitness industry to enjoy a PadMasters workshop. This course is open to anyone wanting to have a great day full of fun, fitness and friendship.

Stay tuned for the next dates of upcoming PadMasters workshops: www.padmasters.com.au

ONFIT Training College is offering complimentary health courses to all genuine applicants as part of a community initiative. The complimentary non-accredited course is designed for anyone who wants to know more about their health.

The short course addresses modern health issues that affect up to 80 per cent of the population. Conditions such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure are explained in every day language, taking away the mystery of these sometimes misunderstood and very prevalent conditions. Did you know that almost 1500 people are diagnosed with diabetes in Australia every week – that’s 214 people every day. So what can we do?

Almost all of us have either been diagnosed with one of these conditions, or we know of somebody who has. At first it can be a little overwhelming and you may not really understand what is happening when these conditions manifest.

At Onfit Training College, we have a strong community focus and we believe that understanding these conditions can help you (1) manage your health better or (2) support others with these conditions.

While best known for our Certificate III, IV and Diploma of Fitness courses (RTO:32107), we at Onfit Training College have launched this course in an effort to work with the community to make a difference.

If you want to know more about your health and how to ‘live well,’ then this offer is for you. Simply claim your course by registering your interest on our website: www.onfit.com.au.

Explain why you would like to do this course and supply your contact details. Entries must be received by March 13, 2010. Within two weeks, you will receive a confirmation of your complimentary course enrolment, with details of how to get started. So what are you waiting for?

Enrol now and invest in your own health, starting today. The course comes complete with a course lesson and an online assessment, so you can check your understanding instantly and get feedback on any answers submitted. It couldn’t be easier.

‘’I arrived in Australia only a month ago, so everything’s all very new to me! But I’m very much enjoying what I have seen so far! It’s brilliant to leave the cold weather behind back home and venture into a hotter and sunnier climate- especially being able to finish work and it still be day-light and sunny!!

I was born and have grown up in ‘wet and windy’ England so as you can imagine there’s no comparison to oz’s climate! I visited Australia at the beginning of the year, and travelled through Victoria and New South Wales, loving what I saw I came back for more on a working visa! My partner has been working out here for several months too so I thought I’d take the plunge and follow his tracks, I’d heard great things about aussie life so I wanted to come and experience them for myself!

After studying Criminology & Psychology at University I worked in the Police force in an administrative role, I worked really close to victims and witnesses of sensitive crimes so my customer service and empathy was vital to the role.

I started as a receptionist/Education Administrator 3 weeks ago, so I’m very new to the role, there is a lot to learn but it’s going great. I generally look after all the paperwork, answer calls and try and assist queries. I also deal with all the receipts and results of assessments, both incoming and outgoing.
It has been a huge step for me leaving all my family and friends back in England, but I know it’s the right move, and the team at Onfit have made the transition so much easier- they are all a lovely welcoming bunch of people!

As well as enjoying the role here, I do have a great interest in sport, at my previous employment I played for the netball team, competing against all the Police forces in England, I also love hitting the gym, and was a member of a club back in England.

Looking forward to meeting or speaking to you all!’’
